The New Deal Launches Peacework Music Net takes a bold initiative in cd pricing with the New Deal, an active effort to win back music fans who have turned to illegal downloads and counterfeit recordings. Our unique cd on demand model allows us to reduce prices radically below those of a traditional label, distributor or retailer. We are pleased to offer customers cds for as little as $0.99c, while maintaining a 50% royalty to our distributed labels and artists. We thank our labels and artists for their support and perception in addressing these issues. They will also benefit from using our worldwide, cost-free platform to release affordable cd singles, archive recordings, back catalog, or financially marginal material. cd singles and EPs start at just $0.99c, albums from $2.49. We hope other distributors and labels will follow our lead in undermining piracy through pricing. 99c cd, anyone? |

Violinist fiddles with the Devil's Music at Dragon Con It was only a matter of time until a rebel reggae violinist went to the dark side and recorded heavy metal with iconic Hawaiian heavy metal band, Sacred Rite. His work there, dedicated to the memory of the late Kevin Lum, is done, and you can hear it on their latest album, "Resurrection." Louis Lamp will perform in the evening September 1st, 2007 at Dragon Con, August 31st – September 3rd, in the Hyatt Regency Centennial Ballroom between Vainglory and Twisted Tower Dire. Look for those two bands, who also had to call agents of Heaven and Hell to get there, to catch the fiddler. Sacred Rite's newest album, "Resurrection" will be available for purchase at the Heaven and Hell Records Table, where many musicians will be available to meet, or for autographs. Also available there will be Louis Lamp's debut album, "An Open Mind" will stand in stark contrast to all the metal available through Heaven and Hell Records. According to Jef Peace, An Open Mind is known to be smoother than fine sipping whiskey, without the nasty side effects. Louis Lamp is known for genre jumping more often than he changes his underwear. Vainglory's storied history includes performances with Doro Pesch, the former lead singer in Warlock, taking over the cover of Flash Magazine. Bringing down the Hyatt Regency from the Centennial Ballroom is just a taste of what they're up to next. Twisted Tower Dire was born in the mid 1990's when metal in the United States was perhaps at it's lowest. In their 11 year history, they give metal heads the medicinal music they need – music made for head banging. It is suggested that if you are in stage in front of them, show your support by banging thy head. |

Eastern Bloc Party for PeaceWork Music Net
To celebrate the opening of our regional office in Ukraine, Peacework Music Net releases Eastern Bloc Party, a compilation of E.European artists available in the West for the first time, including Manna's hit, "Not Now Not This Time". We are pricing this 10 track, 50 minute album at an unheard of USD$2.49 - the same as it is sold for in the former Soviet Union. We believe piracy will be defeated through pricing. Peacework Music Net is the only Western distributor providing access to former Soviet Union markets for independent labels, and will be the primary platform for domestic labels and artists to release their work both at home and abroad. In co-operation with Musindustria, we embark on a long term promotional campaign, with additional radio, TV, and promotion services available throughout the territory to all our distributed labels. Our regional office is working closely with the Ukraine government copyright agency, and offers publishing administration for speedy payment of broadcast royalties, if required. We encourage labels of all sizes to contact us about our cost-free, risk-free P&D deals for the former Soviet Union, EU, USA and Asia. |

SongSurf on the Horizon Our Director of Services, Jef Peace, and his wife are putting together a radio show to plug to the industry. The show will be called "SongSurf" and will showcase music available on the internet in an effort to help promote this incredible resource. Here's what Jef has to say about the project: "SongSurf is going to be an hour or two hour show during which my wife, Cyd, and I play then briefly review mp3's harvested from the internet. "The pilot is coming along nicely and should be ready to submit to radio stations by the end of August." If you have mp3's posted on a website and available for download (you need at least one full track) drop Jef an email and let him know the url where your song is posted. Also include the statement that he has permission to use your song in his show. |

Yes, You Can Promote Yourself How To Promote Your Music Successfully On The Internet Almost immediately (the first page after the Table Of Contents) we see the question "Will You Make Millions?" The answer following the question is refreshing in this jaded world of get-rich-quick-schemes and scams . . . "The Internet is not a shortcut to success, it's simply another tool, and one that can be very effective in the hands of someone who knows how to use it." The author is up-front with the reality of internet self-promotion and that is commendable. The rest of the book is filled with very useful information, including current links to the various tools and research that is used. I tested every single link in the book and every one was exactly what the author said it was. This, in itself, is quite unusual and again, commendable. You will find sections on how to fine-tune your website and tailor it to meet the anticipated needs of your fans as well as optimize it for the search engines. You will find out what a press release is, how to write an effective one and where to send it. There's useful information regarding how to put samples of your music on your website and links to the free software needed for this task. There's an entire chapter devoted to mp3.com and even a chapter letting you know about promotional plans that DON'T work. I will give my personal guarantee that if you follow the plan this book lays down, you will do exactly as the title indicates and successfully promote your music on the internet and I heartily endorse this book as the best manual on internet self-promotion that I've read to date. In fact, I picked a few valuable tips myself! |
